SRU Deploys Africa’s First AI Admissions Voice Agent — A New Era of Education 6.0 Begins

Across the world, universities are racing to understand what artificial intelligence means for teaching, learning, and institutional operations. At Springfield Research University, we are not waiting for the future to arrive — we are building it.

The inaugural issue of the SAIRIH Newsletter captures a milestone that signals where higher education in our region is heading: SRU has deployed an AI‑powered admissions voice agent — Morgan — to transform how institutions engage prospective students.

This is not a pilot. Not a prototype. Not a theoretical exercise. It is a fully operational, 24/7 AI system integrated into the heart of our admissions workflow.

And it is already changing the game.

Why Morgan Matters

For years, universities across Africa have struggled with slow response times, manual processing, and fragmented communication with prospective students. These inefficiencies cost institutions enrolments, credibility, and competitive advantage.

Morgan solves that.

Morgan is an AI voice agent that:

  • Automatically calls prospective students after they submit an enquiry

  • Holds natural, intelligent conversations

  • Answers questions instantly

  • Captures interest levels

  • Logs outcomes in real time

  • Routes actionable insights to the admissions team

This is Education 6.0 in practice — automation, intelligence, and human‑centred design working together to create institutional excellence.

Built by African Talent, for African Institutions

The system was designed and delivered by Ngonidzashe Mathew Kanyangarara, a PhD researcher in Artificial Intelligence at Federation University Australia. His work demonstrates what is possible when African institutions collaborate with African innovators to solve African challenges.

Instead of relying on off‑the‑shelf tools, he engineered a fully integrated, intelligence‑driven admissions system built on a layered architecture of advanced speech interfaces, autonomous decision engines, dynamic workflow orchestration, and real‑time institutional data synchronisation.

The result is a seamless end‑to‑end platform that performs at the level of global enterprise systems — yet was designed with the agility, efficiency, and cost‑discipline required by institutions in our region.

This is the future of regional innovation: African talent architecting world‑class systems for African institutions, using ingenuity rather than excess, and delivering capabilities that rival the best in the world.

In reflecting on this achievement, His Excellency Professor Dr. Godfrey Gandawa, President of Springfield Research University, remarked that Mr. Kanyangarara’s work represents “a decisive shift in how universities should operate in the age of intelligent systems.” He noted that the AI admissions agent has eliminated the chronic delays that once characterised the admissions department, replacing them with a system that responds instantly, consistently, and at scale. “This is a game‑changer,” he said. “For years, prospective students waited days for a response. Today, they receive engagement within minutes. That is the standard of Education 6.0 — and Mr. Kanyangarara has delivered it with precision, discipline, and world‑class execution.”

SAIRIH: The Engine Behind the Transformation

Morgan is the first major deployment under the Springfield AI‑Powered Regional Innovation Hub (SAIRIH) — our platform for accelerating AI adoption across the region.

SAIRIH exists to:

  • Connect institutions with leading AI practitioners

  • Build capacity for Education 6.0

  • Drive digital transformation across sectors

  • Position SRU as a continental centre of excellence

The inaugural newsletter issue captures this vision and showcases the innovators shaping it.

A Message to the Region

This deployment is more than a technological upgrade. It is a statement of intent.

SRU is demonstrating that:

  • AI is not a distant future — it is a present capability

  • African institutions can lead, not follow

  • Innovation is not a luxury — it is a necessity

  • Education 6.0 is not a slogan — it is an operational reality

Morgan is the first of many systems that will redefine how universities operate, how students engage, and how institutions deliver value.

The Future Has a Springfield Address

As we release the inaugural issue of the SAIRIH Newsletter, we are not simply reporting progress — we are charting a new direction for higher education in the region.

SRU is not observing the Fourth Industrial Revolution. SRU is not reacting to global trends. SRU is setting the pace.

And the region is taking notice.
